The Woman was seated at the table next to Ena Sharples at The Flying Horse when Ena made a rare visit to the establishment in 1962. Ena was boycotting the Rovers Return after being wrongfully accused by the regulars of shopping Sam Leach to the police and sent to Coventry.

As they were both alone, the pensioner struck up a conversation with Ena however she quickly regretted it as Ena was in a foul mood, asking her companion if she'd ever thought of having her ears syringed when she commented favourably on the piano music playing in the boozer. Noting that the Rovers had no music whatsoever, Ena sang the praises of her usual watering hole, clearly wishing she was there instead of the Flying Horse. Later that same day, Len Fairclough and Harry Hewitt came to apologise and fetch Ena back to the Rovers.

The character was credited as "A woman".
