William Armstrong (born 6th June 1954 in Montreal, Canada) appeared in Coronation Street in February 1993 as Andrew Hopkinson, a barrister opposing Ted Sullivan's will which gave his estate to his widow Rita. He returned to the programme as a Prison Officer in four episodes between November 2000 and May 2003.

Sometimes credited as Bill Armstrong, he also appeared in Bergerac, Capital City, Screen One, The Comic Strip Presents..., Boon, The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, Minder, Pie in the Sky, As Time Goes By, As Time Goes By, Soldier Soldier, Silent Witness, The Vice, Band of Brothers, Walking the Dead, Dalziel and Pascoe, The Alan Clarke Diaries, The Courtroom, Murder in Suburbia, Hollyoaks, Rosemary & Thyme, The Bill, Holby City, Taggart, New Tricks, Foyle's War, Casualty and Doctors. He has also written for the latter series and for The Indian Doctor.

Film roles include Aliens, Hope and Glory, A Sound of Thunder, The Wind That Shakes the Barley, La Vie en Rose, Derailed and The Dark Night.

Stage work includes parts in The Miser, Vanya, Glengarry Glen Ross, The Blue Ball, Popcorn, The Crucible, King Lear and The Grapes of Wrath.

Radio work includes Dancing with the Dragon, Baths and Guys and Dolls.
