Wilfred Arthur Carter (born 25th May 1908 in Marylebone, London; died 5th February 1998 in Hillingdon, Middlesex) appeared on Coronation Street in March 1972 as Weatherfield Sailing Club secretary, Freddie Baxter.

His other television credits included roles in Dixon of Dock Green, Probation Officer, Silent Evidence, Ghost Squad, Tales of Mystery, 24-Hour Call, No Hiding Place, Drama 61-67, Maigret, Emergency-Ward 10, Z Cars, Blackmail, Softly Softly, Menace, Take Three Girls, Doctor Who, The Edwardians, The Regiment, Barlow and Oil Strike North.

Radio work included The Faceless Ones, Personal Column and The Man Born to Be King.

On stage, he appeared in productions of Topaze, along with Thark, Candida, A Change of Air, One Way Pendulum, The Same Sky and I Killed the Count for the Liverpool Repertory Company.
