Westcountry Television has been the ITV franchise holder for the South West of England since 1st January 1993, succeeding Television South West. They showed their first episode of Coronation Street, Episode 3484, on their first day of transmissions and have carried for the programme for the region since then. As of 2013, ITV merged its Westcountry region with its Wales & West region to become ITV West Country while creating a new region for Wales.
