Walter Greenhalgh was the husband of Dot Greenhalgh and father to the late Samantha Greenhalgh.

Walter married Dot in 1945 and moved to 18 Victoria Street. Following the war, Dot gave birth to the pair's only child, Samantha, who tragically died of TB aged 13 months. By 1960, Dot had began to flirt with other man and was even open to the occasional fling. When Gregg Flint returned to the country in 1967, Walt found out that Dot and Gregg were seeing each other and went to thump Gregg, but in a case of mistaken identity he hit Steve Tanner, Elsie's boyfriend.

Despite reuniting with her, the pair had finished for good by 1969.
