The Waitress worked at Ray Crosby's Chariot Square Hotel. Abi Franklin was incensed that the ruthless and crooked businessman he had seemingly managed to escape another formal charge after being set free following an arrest for the attempted rape of Faye Windass and, as another former victim of his sexual deviancy, went to the hotel in an attempt to find it if he had tried it on with them, getting them to sign gagging orders for payment afterwards.
Abi quickly got chatting to the girl and told her she was an ex-girlfriend of Ray's, but the waitress was new to the job and voiced his discomfort at chatting about her boss's private life. Abi delved further and asked in a roundabout way if he had had occasion to bribe her in any way, or if she could put her in contact with her colleagues to ask them similar questions. The girl, thoroughly uncomfortable with the way the conversation had gone, said her shift was finishing and someone else would fetch Abi's drink.
