Vinny Dhillon (born in Firozpur, India) appeared on Coronation Street in two roles: firstly between February and March 1990 as Debbie, who worked for Mike Baldwin as a machinist in his cottage factory within Jim's Cafe flat.; and she returned to the programme in both July 2013 and January 2014 as Dr. Akhtar, who worked for a time at the Rosamund Street Medical Centre.
She trained at the Rose Bruford College.
Her other credits include roles in The Bill, Backup, The Ruth Rendell Mysteries, Dangerfield, Bad Girls, The Eustace Bros., Casualty, Doctors, Coming Up, EastEnders, Grace, We Are Lady Parts, Frayed and The Good Karma Hospital, along with the films The Full Monty and Ali & Ava.
On stage, she appeared in productions of Chiaroscuro and Cyrano de Bergerac.
While for radio, she was heard in If Wishes Were Changes, The Tyranny of Karma, Pankhiraj, Lost Children, Skeleton and Dinner Ladies.
