Vin Welch (born "John Vincent Welch" on 4th November 1936 in Tynemouth, Northumberland; died 28th September 2021 in Durham) appeared on Coronation Street in November 1998 as Bob Barnes, father of the late Des and in attendance at his son's funeral.
His other credits included roles in The Moth, Emmerdale, Heartbeat, The Bill, Auf Wiedersehen, Pet, Distant Shores and Inspector George Gently, along with the 2013 film Harrigan.
He worked for many years as a top drag queen in the bars and clubs in the north of England and was the father of former Coronation Street actress, Denise Welch.
