Vikram "Vik" Desai was the co-founder of Street Cars alongside Steve McDonald.

The son of Ravi Desai and younger brother of Nita, Vik was made to help his sister run the Corner Shop when Ravi took over the store in 1999. Later that year he was promoted to manager when Nita defected to Freshco. A university dropout, Vik's mind was always on his love life and never his work. In 2000 he quit the shop, tired of being everybody's lackey, and set up Street Cars with Steve.

In 2002, Vik got involved in drug smuggling to clear his gambling debts and hid cocaine inside Karen McDonald's suitcase when she went to Tenerife with Steve. When Steve found out, he emptied the drugs into the canal. The partnership ended with Vik clearing out Street Cars's tax account and taking a one-way trip to Mumbai.

Vik's girlfriends while in Coronation Street included Maxine Heavey, Leanne Battersby and Maria Sutherland.
