The Vicar conducted five religious services on the behalf of Coronation Street residents.
In October 1997, he officiated at the burial of Don Brennan, where the mourners gathered at North Cross Cemetery; in November 1998, the funeral of Des Barnes at Weatherfield Crematorium and finally, in March 1999 he led the proceedings at St. Mary's Church - firstly for the christening service for the Mallett twins, Billy and Becky. The Malletts had asked Jack Duckworth to be godfather to the twins, but upon becoming aware that Jack hadn't been christened either, the vicar had to conduct another quick ceremony in order that Jack could fulfil the role. Later that same day, he was due to officiate at the wedding of Ian Bentley and Sharon Gaskell. The bride turned up at the church and called it off as she'd discovered that the groom had been unfaithful.
