The Vanman and his partner delivered a new bed to 5 Coronation Street for the bedroom being prepared by the Tilsley parents for newly-weds Brian and Gail before they returned from honeymoon. Bert was busy painting the bedroom and failed to hear the knock. Stan Ogden thought he was out and gave the helpful suggestion that they leave the bed in the backyard.
