Coronation Street Wiki

The Van Driver worked for a supply company under Jack Halliwell in 1992. As MVB Motors had a contract to service Halliwell's fleet, the driver was occasionally seen in Coronation Street on dropoff and pickup duties.

One such occasion was in January of that year, when the driver collected a serviced van and invoice from Kevin Webster. Unbeknown to the man, Kevin had added £20 to the bill to claw back a £1,000 backhander given to Halliwell in exchange for renewing the service contract. On Mike Baldwin's orders, Kevin was doing the same to every bill, and hoping that Halliwell didn't notice.

On a subsequent visit in March, the driver received an even more ludicrous invoice from Kevin, billing Halliwell £500 for mending mink-lined brakes and gold-plated spark plugs. This time, Kevin had jacked up the price as an act of protest against Mike, who had refused to let Kevin charge an honest rate despite having now recouped the full £1,000. Once the invoice reached Halliwell, the manager finally realised that Mike had been ripping him off.
