The unnamed Van Driver was employed at Baldwin's Casuals on the first day that it opened for business in October 1976. He wolf-whistled Bet Lynch as she read the newly-erected factory notice board and swapped some suggestive banter with her. Later on, he laughed at Mike Baldwin who had just interrupted a card school organised by the workmen who were getting the factory ready, not realising who Mike was. When it became clear that this was his new boss, he started unloading from the van in double-quick time.

The unnamed driver was played by Lawrence Mullin, ten months before he appeared in the role of Baldwin's Casuals trainee manager Steve Fisher.
