A massive thank-you to Kaleidoscope for granting us access to their script archive and making this possible.

The summer of 1970 was an interesting time for Coronation Street. June Howson was settling in as producer and the traditional cast shake-up was underway; Irma Barlow was already back on our screens, Alan Howard was soon to become the third Mr. Elsie Tanner, Julie Goodyear would shortly begin her 25-year stint as Bet Lynch and the axe had fallen on most of the younger cast, namely Sandra and Bernard Butler and the somewhat lifeless Dickie and Audrey Fleming. But it was the sad passing of Arthur Leslie on 30th June that affected the programme the most. As well as a much-loved member of the cast, as Rovers landlord Jack Walker he played …

Yesterday was the website's tenth anniversary and I couldn't let the date pass without paying tribute to the hard work put in over the years by our team. How to do this? By going through each year systematically and explaining in painstaking detail why each one was the best yet, of course. That's how we roll in these parts.

Progress: The first four articles created were Coronation Street, Corriepedia, Coronation Street in 1960 and Ken Barlow, all of whose first edits simply read "Will fill this out soon". Episode 1 followed the next day, then Episode 2 and so on until 25th May when it was pointed out to me that going through them in order may not be the most practical idea. The first 'current' episode was then added, numbered 6820. As …

Hello all, I thought I'd take a moment to give some advice to anyone writing or wanting to write character articles for this Wiki, specifically "main" characters. I know how daunting it can be starting out on a new article and hope that this guide will keep you on the right path and help you deliver a brilliant article! For additional help, check our manual of style.

Before commencing, you'll find it useful to decide on a structure for your article as this will save you time later. Main characters are formatted as follows:

    • Lead section
    • Biography
    • Personality
      • Traits (if appropriate)
    • Relationships (if appropriate)
    • Role in the community (if appropriate)
    • Hobbies and interests (if appropriate)
    • Background information

The BGI is irrelevant for the moment as…

It's that time again! (Yes, I'm doing this at midnight on Hogmanay).

It's been a lean year on the guest characters side as our work has been focused in other areas, although we did reach the milestone of having 50% complete with images. In total we created 177 new articles, and 138 more are complete with image than this time last year.

Another year, another update! We passed the point of having 50% guest character articles written this year and are very close to having half of all articles completed including images. In total, 656 articles were completed.

2009, 2010, 2013 and 2014 joined 1960, 1980 and 1988 as completed years, while 1970, 1971 and 1972 are complete in the sense that all articles are fully written, but many are missing images.
