Tony Declan James Slattery (born 9th November 1959 in Stonebridge, London; died 14th January 2025) appeared on Coronation Street in both December 2005 and February 2006 as bookmaker, Eric Talford.
After reading Modern and Medieval Languages at Trinity Hall college in Cambridge, he met Stephen Fry and joined Cambridge Footlights - eventually becoming president, which led to many appearances on television comedy and satire shows including Whose Line Is It Anyway? and Have I Got News For You.
In an acting capacity, his other television credits included roles in Saturday Stayback, Behind the Bike Sheds, Gems, Red Dwarf, This is David Harper, That's Love, A Word in your Era, Just a Gigolo, Casualty, Bad Girls, The Royal, Robin Hood and Kingdom.
Film roles included How to Get Ahead in Advertising, The Crying Game, Peter's Friends, Carry on Columbus, To Die For, Up 'n' Under, The Wedding Tackle, Blackball and Lady Godiva: Back in the Saddle.
On stage, he appeared in productions of The Cat and the Canary, Neville's Island, Privates On Parade, The Rocky Horror Show and Robin Hood.
