Anthony Osoba (born 15th March 1947 in Springburn, Glasgow) appeared on Coronation Street in two roles: firstly in May 1982 as Wesley McGregor, who along with his "brother", Cyril, arrived on an impromptu visit from Liverpool to attend Eddie Yeats's stag party; and he returned to the programme between January and August 1990 as textile king Peter Ingram.

He was either unwilling or unable to reprise the role of Wesley in the Street spin-off sitcom The Brothers McGregor which launched in 1985, with the role being portrayed by Paul Barber in all twenty-six episodes.

With an early ambition to go into a career of car design, he trained at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama.

Perhaps best remembered as the Scottish hard man McLaren in Porridge, his other television credits include roles in Crown Court, Charles Endell, Esq, The Flame Trees of Thika, Tales of the Unexpected, The Cleopatras, Dempsey and Makepiece, Doctor Who, Snakes and Ladders, The Bill, Making News, A Dance to the Music of Time, The Demon Headmaster, Arabian Nights, Family Affairs, Fran's People, Waking the Dead, Merseybeat, Dinotopia, Revolver and Hollyoaks.

Film roles include Pure as a Lily, Game for Vultures, Porridge, Who Dares Wins, Tanner and Planetfall.

On stage, he appeared in productions of Coriolanus, Julius Caesar, Antony and Cleopatra and Titus Andronicus for the Royal Shakespeare Company.
