Tony Monroe (known previously under his real name "Phil Banyard") appeared on Coronation Street in three roles under the two names:
As Phil Banyard he appeared as a waiter in July 1980 (when Mike Baldwin wined and dined Hilda Ogden after she won a night out with him in a charity competition) and in February 1982 (when buyer Wilf Stockwell took Elsie Tanner out to dinner).
As Tony Monroe he appeared in November 1999 as an unemployed man in the DSS offices who spoke with Les Battersby regarding his interview letter; and he returned to the programme between July and August 2003 as con man Arnie Scanlan, who had ironically met up with Les Battersby again after the pair had shared a cell together in Strangeways Jail.
His other credits include roles in Emmerdale Farm, Boon, North Square, EastEnders, Heartbeat, Sparkhouse, Clocking Off, Holby City, Fat Friends, The Bill, The Royal, New Street Law and Remember Me. His only other known credit as "Phil Banyard" was as a PC in an episode of Juliet Bravo in September 1982.
