Tony Haywood was married to Isla Haywood and was the father of Darcy, a little girl who attended Bessie Street School alongside Hope Stape. Isla took Tyrone Dobbs's side when other parents at the school snubbed Hope after her somewhat psychotic tendencies became exposed and she agreed to go on a date with him, claiming that she and her husband were separated.
The two met at Speed Daal where Isla told Tyrone that she liked exciting men in her life, moaning that her ex was a typical "pipe and slippers" man. As they were about to pay up, they were interrupted by the very-much still-married Mr Haywood who was puzzled as to where the girlfriends were that Isla was supposedly lunching with, saying he had finished work early to surprise her with a lift home. Isla hurriedly jabbed her wedding ring on the correct finger as Tyrone naturally asked who the man was. Finding out that Isla was playing away from home, Tyrone unwisely made a comment about having his time wasted flirting over samosas, which earned him a punch in the nose from an enraged Tony. The Haywoods left the restaurant arguing about her being "a lying, cheating tart" as Tyrone's own ex, Fiz Stape, and her new man Phill Whittaker, came to his aid.
