Todd Boyce was born in 1961 in Columbus, Ohio, USA, the youngest of three sons born to an American father and an English mother. The family moved to Germany when Todd was a child and then to Sao Paulo, Brazil finally settling in Sydney, Australia where Todd trained as an actor at Australia's National Institute of Dramatic Arts in Sydney, graduating in 1983.

Todd made his television debut in the Australian soap The Restless Years and appeared on the Australian stage in productions including Ball Boys, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf, and Burn This, for which he won the Critics Circle Award for his role of Wayne Harrison. He appeared on television in the mini-series Vietnam with Nicole Kidman.

After moving to London in 1989 he appeared in films such as Second Best, Great Expectations and The Ruby Ring but still continued to find work in Australia in Fields of Fire and The Delinquents starring Kylie Minogue. On television he appeared in Miss Marple, Space Precinct and Cold Lazarus.

Todd appeared in Coronation Street as Audrey Roberts' illegitimate son Stephen Reid in January 1996, playing the role intermittently for a year, returning in December 2007 for a further one-month stint.

In the interim he has worked solidly in film, theatre and television with roles in Spooks, Penelope, Sometimes in April and Banged Up Abroad.
