The Red Lion is a Newton & Ridley public house on Cuthbert Street.
The pub was known for having an open-mic night. Albert Tatlock found Charlie Moffitt singing there in May 1965, and in January 1972 Ivy Tilsley, Edna Gee and Elsie Tanner sang Now Is The Hour while on a night out at the pub.
In February 2000, Geena Gregory had been offered a job as a barmaid at the pub but later became employed at the Rovers Return Inn.
In May 2007, Liz McDonald dragged Deirdre Barlow to the pub in order to check out one of the barmaids - Linda, who was the wife of Newton & Ridley drayman Derek, who Liz had been having an affair with.
In January 2018, Rosie Webster attended a fancy dress party at the Rovers Return Inn for Henry Newton dressed as a Red Line (after mishearing the name of the Red Lion).
The brewery had another pub of the same name on Navigation Street, known as one of the worst streets in the district by all that knew it, and the pub itself was regard as "Siberia" by all in the licenced trade.
