The Banner (Newspaper)

The Banner was a newspaper which offered Ken Barlow 180 guineas to write a series of articles on "Life in a typical Northern town" in 1962, as a follow-up to his "The Student and the Working Class" essay in Survival magazine. As his earlier article had caused his neighbours in Coronation Street to take offence, Ken decided not to write for The Banner.
