Tanya Pooley was a troublesome barmaid, who caused a great deal of drama during her short stay on the cobbles. Tanya was intelligent but had rather a spiteful nature and could say hurtful things.

Initially working at The Queens, where Liz McDonald was manageress for a time, she later found work in the Rovers and quickly became Raquel Wolstenhulme's enemy by setting her up with a fake modelling date which left Raquel standing alone in a deserted fruit and vegetable market for ages before realising it was a cruel joke.
