Script[]

Where does the information come from that a script was written that included this character, please?--Jtomlin1uk (talk) 09:39, February 22, 2014 (UTC)

I took the information from Sean Egan's '50 Years of Coronation Street: The (very) unofficial story'. Page 84 - "Illness on the part of Doris Speed (Annie Walker) proved devestating to the actors cast as the Ogdens' other kids. The episode in which they were shown moving in was written but not broadcast. [...] Of the Ogdens' moving in he (Darren Little) says 'Its a wonderful script. They have a knees-up in the street as they're moving all their stuff in and Hilda has four children.' When the show resumed upon Speed's recovery, the two additional kids were airbrushed out of the picture with the explanation that they had remained in care. By 1976, when Hilda was talking to Stan about their kids, she referred to only two." (NathanJohnson (talk) 16:54, February 22, 2014 (UTC))

Hmm, I'm in two minds about this one. The episodes he's referring to are written about in the article about the 1964 ITV Strike and you'll see there that the characters are not mentioned in the synopsis or the cast. Also, in the previous episode on the network DVD, Irma says that Sylvia is in care - could Hilda have really got her out so quickly? Also, if the character's were permanent additions, why weren't they in subsequent episodes? Surely the actors would have been contracted on a short-term basis as Jonathan Collins was? However, against that is the fact that Daran Little has read the script! By the way, Little is confusing Doris Speed's illness with Episode 1026 (18th November 1970). The two 1964 episodes weren't made due to the strike - confirmed by contemporary press articles in the Daily Mirror.--Jtomlin1uk (talk) 19:21, February 23, 2014 (UTC)
