Coronation Street Wiki

Sorry but this page is inadquate. Ronnie turned up several weeks before the revelation, has a penchant for gambling which had previously got his brother into trouble, has a sister in law who isn't happy to see him back, has got a job locally and has moved into the Rovers. The page neglects almost all of this and is the quickest of haphazard creations. If such pages are going to be created, they will be swiftly deleted and the creating editor blocked. This page has no less information than that of Aggie Bailey (despite that page being for a character who has been on screen for almost two years rather than a month). This page currently has the correct formatting, infobox and image. I thought that this page deserved to be created, due to the character currently being part of a major storyline, but planned to wait until Friday in order to fill out all of the other information as things may be subject to change.
I do not believe it deserves to be deleted, or myself blocked. RadMatter (talk) 15:43, 18 March 2021 (UTC)
The main issue as I see it is that there's nothing on the page to indicate that it's unfinished. We've had many, many instances of editors coming in, creating a page with the bare minimum on it, and thinking "that'll do" and moving on - leaving us to do the donkey work. In the example you cite, Aggie's page may be slim but the gaps are clearly marked with maintenance tags, which is an acceptable way to leave a page (especially one that would take as long to write as Aggie's) as it tells readers that we know it's not finished but we're working on it. In fact, we have a tag made specifically for articles which are presently being worked on. Also, all of the major character pages are allowed to exist regardless of what state they're in due to their importance. Despite its short length, it is regularly updated with appearance info and we like to have them there so we can add any new info about their past or relatives' names given in recent episodes. Finally, this is a talk page for Ronnie Bailey and is only concerned with this article. Pointing to another one doesn't make this any better. David (talk) 19:28, 18 March 2021 (UTC)
