There is no evidence that Rita's mind has returned to the mid-70s. I know this is stated in a Corrie book, but the fact is Rita asks how Len is coping without her, indicating she believes that they are married. We must remember that she occasionally undertook singing engagements as Rita Littlewood after she married Len. In 1980, Rita left Len after a huge row, bound for Blackpool, where she hoped to resume her singing career. Her concern about how Len is coping without her in 1989 simply indicates that her mind has returned to her married years (1977-1983). Solidsandie 12:56, 17 February 2009 (UTC)
- Do you have this episode then? I've not seen it. Yeah, it sounds best to leave it as 'married years' rather than mid-70s. David 13:02, 17 February 2009 (UTC)
Yes, I do have the episode, David. As you know, Rita married Len in 1977 but she still occasionally sang as Littlewood - it was her stage name as well as her maiden name. What was indicated in the 1989 episode is that Rita believed she was on a singing engagement in Blackpool, leaving Len to cope at home alone. And we all know what Len was like in the kitchen! It simply indicated that her mind had retreated to the 1977-1983 era of her life, when she was safe with Len. Solidsandie 13:09, 17 February 2009 (UTC)
