Talfryn Thomas (born "John Talfryn Thomas" on 31st October 1922 in Swansea, died 4th November 1982 in Cardiff) appeared on Coronation Street intermittently between May 1971 and September 1972 as rag-and-bone man Dirty Dick.
Initially training as an instrument mechanic, he joined the RAF during World War II as a rear gunner and having survived a crash which took the lives of the rest of the Lancaster bomber's crew members, turned to the acting profession as a way to deal with the trauma. He trained at LAMDA.
His television credits include roles in The Citadel, Garry Halliday, Z Cars, The Avengers, Quick Before They Catch Us, The Newcomers, Crossroads, Softly Softly, St. Ives, The Flower of Gloster, The Man in the Iron Mask, Treasure Island, Doctor Who, Television Club, Tottering Towers, Doomwatch, Dad's Army, Survivors, The Government Inspector and King of the Castle.
On stage, he appeared in a 1954 production of Worm's Eye View at the Theatre Royal, Birmingham.
