Talbot Road is a thoroughfare on the south side of Weatherfield, opposite to the area of the borough where Coronation Street is located.
Cathy Matthews was making her way down the road in a taxi one night in February 2019 when she saw a paralytic Abi Franklin there, staggering along with a can in her hand. She offered her a lift but only gained a mouthful of abuse in return. The encounter proved a godsend for Abi though as Peter Barlow's boat had been set on fire at much the same time and Abi was the prime suspect for the attack as he had jilted her earlier that day. Cathy's sighting provided her with a much-needed alibi.
Specialist teacher Jade Rowan relocated to Weatherfield from Birmingham to continue providing assistance to referred pupil Hope Stape and jumped at the opportunity to move into 9 Coronation Street, but the arrangement was short-lived as Hope went back to Bessie Street School and Jade's services were no longer required. In reality, Jade was Hope's half-sister and the secret daughter of John Stape, and after moving out of No.9 in January 2020, she rented the two-bedroom house at 5 Talbot Road as part of a failed attempt to get custody of Hope.
