Sydney Tafler (born 31st July 1916 in Hackney, London; died 8th November 1979 in Richmond upon Thames, Surrey) appeared on Coronation Street in November 1969 as Miami Modes board member Mr Maddox-Smith.
Graduating from RADA in 1936, his other television credits include roles in Back to Methuselah, Angel Pavement, Dial 999, Citizen James, Hamlet, No Hiding Place, Z Cars, Dixon of Dock Green, Alexander the Greatest, Van der Valk and Crown Court.
Film roles include London Belongs to Me, The Lavender Hill Mob, Reach for the Sky, Carry on Regardless, Alfie and The Spy Who Loved Me.
On stage, he appeared in productions of Repayment, Peer Gynt, Richard III, Oedipus Rex, Arms and the Man, The Critic, Flowers for the Living, Not in the Book, The Best Laid Schemes and Meeting at Night.
