Susan Cookson (born 20th April 1965 in Manchester) appeared on Coronation Street in two roles: firstly in January 1998 as building society manager Mrs Briscoe who dealt with Ian Jenkins's complaint about suspicious activity on his account; and she returned to the programme intermittently between March 2015 and June 2016 as Marion Logan, mother of the villainous Callum (the role was recast to Kerry Peers when the character returned in October 2019).

Better known for her roles as Dr Maggie Coldwell in Casualty intermittently from 2005 to 2015 and as Wendy Posner on Emmerdale from 2019, her other credits include roles in Heartbeat, Into the Fire, Band of Gold, Peak Practice, Casualty, Queer as Folk, Fat Friends, Clocking Off, Blue Murder, Early Doors, Doctors, Casualty @ Holby City, Land Girls, Five Days, Waterloo Road, Mount Pleasant, After Hours, Cold Feet and Hollyoaks, along with the 1993 film Raining Stones.

On stage, she appeared in a production of Shakers for the Wolsey Theatre Company.

She was married to the late actor Malcolm Scates, who himself appeared in several roles on Coronation Street. The couple had two children.
