The Surgeon worked at Weatherfield General and was on duty when escaped convict Clayton Hibbs was wheeled in with a stab wound. Armed with a knife, he had been holding his mother Shona Ramsey hostage. He made a threat to the police that he would kill her in one hour if they didn't meet his demands and when the time was up, he went for her with the knife but she managed to stab him instead.
At the hospital, the surgeon listened as the paramedic gave her summary of his condition and after further examination took him into theatre. She later reported to Shona that he had had a perforated bowel but they had managed to stop the bleeding and repair the damaged vessels, thus stabilising him.
