Sue Wallace appeared on Coronation Street in two roles, with a twenty-five year gap between them: firstly in August 1980 as neglectful mother Mrs Fletcher; and she returned to the programme in March 2005 as Jean Harris, the mourning mother of the recently murdered Tommy Harris.
Sue studied English and Drama at Birmingham University where she met Victoria Wood, who she appeared with many times over the years in Housewife 49, Dinnerladies, Pat and Margaret and Victoria Wood: As Seen on TV.
Initially a teacher, she has had a long career on television and the stage since the early 1980s in, amongst others, Juliet Bravo, Bergerac, Making Out, Nice Town, The Bill, Common as Muck, Heartbeat and Doctors.
On stage, she appeared in productions of Hard Times, Happy as a Sandbag, Pygmalion, The Merry Wives of Windsor, Untold Stories (Hymn & Cocktail Sticks) and The March on Russia.
