Stephen Hoyle appeared on Coronation Street in two roles: firstly in June 2003 as Gary Jenkinson, the possessive boyfriend of Claire Casey; and he returned to the programme as PC Connolly, appearing intermittently between September 2010 and June 2024.
He trained at the Oldham Theatre workshop.
His other credits include roles in G.B.H., Children's Ward, Reckless, Family Affairs, Shockers, Monsignor Renard, City Central, Fat Friends, EastEnders, Heartbeat, Holby City, Clocking Off, At Home with the Braithwaites, Merseybeat, Burn It, Doctors, Girls in Love, Shameless, In the Club, The Syndicate, Girlfriends and Waterloo Road, along with the 2000 film The 3 Kings.
On stage, he appeared in productions of Dead Wood, Salford Tales, Big Game and Shirley.
