As the lead singer in the band called Akasa she got a record deal with Warner Brothers in 1988, before working as a presenter for MTV Asia.

Haque moved to India in 1997 and starred in a string of films with some of the biggest names in Bollywood, before returning to the UK to appear in Andrew Lloyd Webber's Bombay Dreams, a musical version of The Far Pavilions.
