Silcock's Shirts was a shirt manufacturer and seller based in Weatherfield, started by Sammy Silcock. By 1972, Sammy's son Tommy was running the business. In June of that year, Fairclough and Langton did a job at Silcock's, working from a yard outside the factory surrounded by warehouses. A few weeks later, Tommy offered Ray Langton a position within Silcock's Shirts, starting at the bottom and learning the ropes. After breaking off a relationship with Tommy's daughter Sue, Ray turned down the job and remained with Fairclough and Langton.
