Sidney Vivian (born "Sidney Drapkin" on 18th April 1901 in Prestwich, died 22nd December 1984 in St Albans) appeared on Coronation Street in March 1968 as prospective corner shop purchaser Mr Skinner.
He enjoyed a long career, first in radio from the mid-1930s onwards in variety broadcasts such as London Pie, Happy Ending and Give Me Air, moving into films after World War II with parts in Dick Barton Strikes Back, Double Confession, Whispering Smith Investigates and Down Among the Z Men with the Goons. He had a regular role in the post-war radio series The Adventures of P.C. 49.
He made his television debut in 1951, building up a long list of credits including Dixon of Dock Green, Precious Bane, Frankly Howerd, Probation Officer, The Men from Room 13, Citizen James, Emergency-Ward 10, Crossroads, Great Expectations and Doctor in the House.
On stage, he appeared in productions of She Wanted A Cream Front Door and Spring Song.
