Shirley Rosemary Stelfox (born 11th April 1941 in Dukinfield, died 7th December 2015 in Nottinghamshire) appeared in four roles in Coronation Street:

Another connection with the programme was an appearance in the "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Frying" episode of the spin-off Pardon the Expression in May 1966 as a sales assistant.

Having trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, she was best known to viewers for her part as pensioner Edna Birch in Emmerdale, a role she played from 2000 to 2015. Prior to that, she appeared as Rose in the first series of Keeping Up Appearances and had parts in programmes such as Juliet Bravo, The Bill, Crossroads, EastEnders and Brookside.

Film roles include Corruption, Carry on at Your Convenience, 1984, Personal Services and Butterflies & Diamonds.

On stage, she appeared in productions of Noel Coward's Cavalcade; Not Now, Darling and Three Sisters.
