Sheila Raynor (born 15th March 1906 in London, died 17th February 1998 in Suffolk) appeared on Coronation Street in two roles: firstly between December 1962 and January 1963 as Mrs Birtles, mother of Sheila; and she returned to the programme in May 1968 as Ethel Stothert, who with her husband, were shown around No.9 with a view to buying the property.

In an acting career spanning three decades, her television credits include roles in Starr and Company, Probation Officer, Emergency-Ward 10, The Plane Makers, Public Eye, Dixon of Dock Green, Z Cars, Mrs. Thursday, The War of Darkie Pilbeam, The Woodlanders, Crown Court, Lizzie Dripping and The Practice.

Bigger screen roles include The Mark of Cain, Wings of Danger, Violent Playground, Room at the Top, Monster of Terror and Dulcima, along with the controversial films A Clockwork Orange and The Omen.

On stage, she appeared in productions of The Bat, Only Yesterday, Tolka Row and Separate Tables.
