Shayne Ward (born 16th October 1984) appeared as Aidan Connor on Coronation Street from August 2015 to May 2018, before reprising the role for a posthumous video of Aidan in August 2018. For his role as Aidan, Shayne won two major television awards, both of which were for best newcomer.

The son of an Irish traveller family who settled in Manchester, he began singing to escape from the life of petty crime that surrounded him on his council estate and performed in a pub and club band "Destiny". He then won the 2005 series of The X Factor. His subsequent first single, That's My Goal, as the third fastest-selling record in the history of the UK charts and he went on to release four albums and twelve singles. In 2011, he appeared in the West End musical Rock of Ages for which he won the Newcomer of the Year award at the 2012 What's On Stage Awards.

In December 2017, Shayne proposed to his girfriend, Hollyoaks actress Sophie Austin, and she accepted.
