Saskia Downes appeared on Coronation Street in two roles: firstly in October 1989 as a florist delivering a bouquet to Rita Fairclough; and she returned to the programme in November 1990 as WPC Kershaw, who investigated a burglary at 4 Coronation Street.
Her other credits include roles in Vice Versa, Frost in May, Strangers and Brothers, How We Used to Live, In Suspicious Circumstances, September Song, Emmerdale, Medics, Born to Run, Peak Practice, Touching Evil and Where the Heart is.
For radio, she was heard in Villette, Recce, Short the Season, Randle's Scandals, Madame Bovary, I'll Be Caesar, On the Eve, Hobson's Choice, Letters of Introduction (written by Peter Whalley), Islands, The Hour of the Star and The Meaning of Lunch.
She married Coronation Street scriptwriter Paul Abbott in 1993 and now works on the other side of the camera as a script editor on programmes including Bob & Rose, Burn It, Casanova, Shameless, Scott & Bailey, Paranoid, Traces and One Day.
