Santa took time off from delivering Christmas presents to children around the world to make an appearance on Coronation Street in December 2015 in a specially-organised Lapland tableau organised by Tyrone Dobbs for a cancer-stricken Hope Stape. After speaking to Hope and other children, he swapped a few words with Vicar Billy Mayhew who commented that this was the busiest time of the year for both of them. Billy gave Santa a swig from his hip-flask but Santa, used to a glass of sherry, a mince pie and a carrot for Rudolph, didn't recognise the concoction and asked if it was hairspray. Sean Tully apologised for Billy's 1980s throwback moment in offering him Cinzano Bianco.
