Samir Rachid was a young Moroccan waiter who was married to Deirdre Barlow until his tragic death in 1995.

Samir met Deirdre in 1994 while she was on holiday in his home country. Eighteen years younger than his wife, Samir wasn't accepted by Deirdre's friends, causing the couple to decide to live in Morocco rather than the UK. In 1995, Samir agreed to donate a kidney to Deirdre's daughter Tracy, but was attacked by youths while walking to the hospital and later died from his injuries.
