Samia Longchambon

Samia Maxine Longchambon (née Ghadie, previously Smith) was born on 13th July 1982 in Eccles, and is the daughter of Joseph Ghadie, a French-Lebanese former diver who met his wife, Patsy, when she was on tour in cabaret in the Middle East as "Bubbles Devine". They married and moved to Salford. Samia has an older brother, Tariq, although her parents are now separated.

Receiving drama lessons from the age of six, she first appeared in Coronation Street as an extra when she was ten in Episode 3482 (28th December 1992) and one year later made her first credited appearance in an episode of Cracker. Subsequent roles have been in Heartbeat, Doctors, Lifeforce and Children's Ward, where she first met Alan Halsall - she was also at school with Rob James-Collier.

Soon after making her feature film debut in There's Only One Jimmy Grimble, she auditioned for the role of Maria Sutherland, beating Suzanne Shaw and Kimberley Walsh for the part. She made her debut in Episode 4824 (19th May 2000).

After dating actor Ciaran Griffiths (who appeared in Coronation Street as Linda Baldwin's brother Dean Sykes in 2000 and as Damon Hay since 2022), she met property developer Matthew Smith who she married on 10th September 2005. Her credited on-screen name was changed to her married name from November onwards. On 19th October 2009 she gave birth to their child, Freya, but on 4th January 2011 the couple announced their separation. Their decree absolute was granted on 4th November and from that date she reverted to her maiden name. She dated Will Thorp, who for a while played her on-screen boyfriend Chris Gray, from January 2011 and on 20th August 2016 married Sylvain Longchambon who she met while appearing on Dancing on Ice.
