Sam Holdsworth is a current member of the Coronation Street writing team and has contributed 24 scripts since August 2018 including a double episode co-credited with Alasdair Morrison

Prior to that, she was a storyliner on the programme for 484 episodes from December 2016 to August 2018. She acted in the same capacity on Emmerdale. She graduated from Leeds University in creative writing and gained an MA in television production from the University of Chester.

According to newspaper reports in September 2018 she was drafted into the programme by incoming producer Iain MacLeod along with Ian Kershaw and Alasdair Morrison with a view to increasing its comedy quotient. This, however, was not true, because she'd already been commissioned to write episodes by Kate Oates before MacLeod moved over from Emmerdale.
