Ryan Thomas was born in Manchester on 10th June 1984 and went to the same school as Simon Gregson and Nicholas Cochrane (although some ten years after). He has younger twin brothers; reality star Scott Thomas and Waterloo Road and former Emmerdale actor Adam Thomas.
Thomas is well known for his Coronation Street role as Jason Grimshaw. He made his debut in the programme on Christmas Day 2000, departing in June 2016, before making a brief return to the role in May 2025.
Prior to the role of Jason, Thomas appeared as an uncredited extra in Hollyoaks. In 2018, Thomas portrayed Rafael Humphreys in the Australian soap opera Neighbours.
In 2004, Thomas started dating co-star Tina O'Brien - who played his estranged wife Sarah Platt and on 26th October 2008, she gave birth to their daughter, Scarlett Jacqueline Thomas. The couple later separated and have joint custody of their daughter. An actress herself, Scarlett is best known for playing Izzy Charles in the reboot of the BBC's Waterloo Road.
Thomas won the 16th series of Dancing On Ice in 2024 with skating partner Amani Fancy.
