Russell T. Davies (born Stephen Russell Davies, 27th April, 1963) is an award-winning Welsh television writer and producer. He is best known for writing the controversial dramas Queer As Folk and The Second Coming, as well as spearheading the 2005 revival of the BBC science-fiction series Doctor Who as writer and executive producer. He also created the Doctor Who spin-off series' Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures. Russell briefly worked on Coronation Street as a storyliner for 9 episodes broadcast between March and April 1993, and he wrote the script for the 1997 spin-off video Viva Las Vegas!

Russell was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 2008 Birthday Honours.
