Ronald Alfred Pickup (7th June 1940 - 24th February 2021) appeared in Coronation Street in November 2014, as pensioner Len Sheldon who held a country and western-themed birthday party in the Rovers Return.
A film, theatre and television actor, his first television role was in Doctor Who in 1964 and following this his roles included television series The Life of Verdi, Fortunes of War and The Crown and film roles in The Day of the Jackal, Never Say Never Again, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and Darkest Hour. On the stage he appeared opposite former Coronation Street actors Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart in Waiting for Godot.
His daughter Rachel is also an actress.
