Ron Temple was the builder who was given the job to convert a vacant lot under the arches of Viaduct Street into the new bodyshop for Webster's Autocentre in January 2016. He pleased owner Kevin Webster by subcontracting out some of the work to Jason's Construction whose own overall tender had failed, but blotted his copybook almost immediately on the first day by severing a power cable which also put paid to business in the next door Nick's Bistro for the day.
One of the builders working on the job was unscrupulous and wily Pat Phelan who, with his own experience of managing building projects, found out that Ron was billing Kevin for more materials than he was actually using and told Jason Grimshaw who in turn advised Kevin that they would keep an eye on him and look after his interests. After Sophie Webster found more dodgy invoices and evidence that the labour charges were being overstated, Ron was sacked from the job and Jason was given the contract instead.
