Ron McDonnell wrote 20 episodes of Coronation Street between August 1965 and February 1971 as well as the Street inserts for the 1969 and 1970 editions of ITV's Christmas spectacular All Star Comedy Carnival. He also wrote material for comedian Jimmy Tarbuck in the 1960s and 1970s, and worked on The Morecambe And Wise Show.
