Robert Gordon Vahey (born 8th October 1932 in Birkenhead, died 29th October 2013 in Brighton) appeared on Coronation Street as Mr Hope, minister of Mawdsley Street Chapel, who officiated at the wedding of Ernest Bishop to Emily Nugent in April 1972 and conducted the funeral services of Cyril Turpin in March 1974 and Ernest Bishop in January 1978.
He also played the recurring role of Mr Cox in the Street spin-off The Brothers McGregor from 1985 to 1987.
His other credits included roles in Angel Pavement, The Life and Death of Sir John Falstaff, The Long Chase, Happy Ever After, Bull Week, Spearhead, Only Fools and Horses, Howards' Way and The Bill.
On stage, he appeared in productions of Henry V, Naked Island, Robert and Elizabeth, My Three Angels, Ten Times Table, Philoctetes, Andy Capp, Gaslight, The Go-Between and An Old Man's Love.
He was married to the actress Valerie Griffiths, who herself appeared on Coronation Street in 1972.
