Redford Prison houses female offenders, either on remand or serving full custodial sentences and is located within the Manchester area.

Deirdre Rachid was sent here when wrongfully convicted of fraud in 1998 and shared a cell with Jackie Dobbs. A few weeks later, Deirdre was eventually proved innocent and released.
The prison saw another wrongfully locked-up prisoner twelve later in 2010 when Gail McIntyre was sent here for "killing" her husband Joe McIntyre, who in reality accidentally killed himself while trying to fake his own death in Lake Windermere. Later sharing a cell with Tracy Barlow - who made a deal with the police to get a reduced sentence if she successfully got a confession out of Gail. Despite Tracy's efforts, Gail was found not guilty of murder and released.
